Building a diy home mulcher from an old lawnmower

“The mulcher can be thought of as an oddly shaped lawnmower. Instead of pushing it over grass and leaves, the things to be mulched are put down an aluminium air duct. The leaves and such then fall over the blades and get chopped up”
via Aaron Cake’s My Mulcher page.

I like the idea of this mulcher. I keep seeing leaves everywhere on the ground and I keep thinking that all this stuff could be used as awesome compost for my garden I now have in my backyard. The downside is the fact that leaves or other material take a lot longer to break down- sometimes up to 12 months. This is way too long for someone impatient as I am. If I combine a mulcher with a hot composting method such as the Berkley Method, the composting could theoretically be done in 18 days!
