Ice patterns and cloud formations are two different things in nature that have so many variations. I think researchers have given up trying to figure out specific names for all the types of clouds and ice formation that can happen. I can name different types of clouds: cirrus, nimbus?, cumulonimbus, columbonimbus… ok, so maybe I don’t know a bunch of cloud names.
I was wrong- the patterns I shot in this video are actually made by the ice- freezing, thawing and re-freezing. I guess it makes sense- more ice means less water in the stresm, and thus the water level for the stream would drop. I guess other people in winter climates wouldn’t experience this, as the temperature would always stay cold enough to be frozen.
I miss riding a bike everywhere. I miss being able to see things around me- like this amazing pattern I saw. You know how sometimes you’ll see chemicals or other sludge on top of water? Silly me, a California native to expect to see chemical sludge in a nearby stream.
But I do know scientists have given up trying to name variations of spiders. I think we were trying to figure out the type of spider at the Fairvilla House and there wasn’t any information online. We found a site where kids were submitting spider photos to experts at universities and the scientists were turning the kids away- sorry, we’ve given up trying to name all these variations. Interesting stuff.
